Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of grated coconut
  • 100 ml condensed milk
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 1/4 cup of ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup of chopped almonds (optional)
  • Food Color (optional)

Instructions:

  • In a large saucepan, combine the grated coconut, condensed milk, and milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens and starts to come away from the sides of the pan.
  • Add in the ghee and cardamom powder and continue to stir until the mixture thickens further and becomes a thick paste.
  • Add food color (optional) (Food for the thought: you can divide the barfi into 2 or 3 equal parts and add different colors, and serve.)
  • Remove the pan from heat and pour the mixture onto a greased tray. Use a spatula to spread it evenly and smooth the surface.
  • Sprinkle the chopped almonds on top, if using, and press them down lightly.
  • Let the mixture cool for 30 minutes.
  • Once it has cooled, use a sharp knife to cut it into desired shapes and sizes.
