How To Make Eggless Apple Pie? | Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp granulated sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
1/4 to 1/2 cup ice water
6-8 cups apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
2 tbsp flaxseed meal + 6 tbsp water (to make a flax egg) or 1/2 cup applesauce (replacement for eggs)
Instructions:
In a small bowl, whisk together the flaxseed meal and water, and let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken and create a "flax egg". Alternatively, you can use 1/2 cup of applesauce as an egg replacement.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and granulated sugar. Add the cold butter pieces and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together into a ball. Divide the dough into two equal pieces, wrap each in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In another mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and flax egg or applesauce. Toss well to coat the apples.
Roll out one of the chilled dough balls on a lightly floured surface into a large circle about 1/8 inch thick. Carefully transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides of the dish.
Pour the apple filling into the pie dish, and dot the top with small pieces of butter.
Roll out the second chilled dough ball on a lightly floured surface into a large circle about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide, and arrange the strips over the top of the apple filling in a lattice pattern.
Trim the excess dough from around the edges of the pie dish, and crimp the edges with a fork or your fingers to seal the top and bottom crusts together.
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
