Jeera Rice Recipe
Jeera rice is a healthy and nutritious dish that is good for digestion. Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
1 tablespoon ghee or oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
1-2 green chilies, slit (optional)
2 cups water
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves, chopped for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Rinse the rice in water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 15-20 minutes.
In a pan or pot, heat ghee or oil over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and stir until they start to sizzle and turn brown.
Add chopped onion and green chilies (if using) and sauté until the onion turns
translucent.
Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Stir well to coat the rice
with the spices and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
Once the rice is cooked, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves (if using) and serve hot.
